Tom was born on October 3rd, 1937 in Columbus Ohio. He received an M.F.A. degree from Ohio University in 1970. From 1971 to 1979 he was an Assistant Professor of Art at the Kansas City Art Institute. He has exhibited his paintings, drawings and sculptures in numerous shows both in America and the United Kingdom. For the past two decades he has devoted extensive energy to the study of Tibetan Buddhism.
The majority of his works are on paper, though he also is a ceramicist and creates sculpture out of a variety of materials. His drawings and paintings cover a wide array of subjects, from landscape to portrait, figure study, and abstraction.
One of his strongest interests is the creating of erotic art and the depiction of the male nude. His erotic drawings range from semi-abstractions which reflect the sensuous curves and forms of musculature to mysterious figures whose form is described by the shadows which envelop them.
Tom draws every day and is constantly experimenting with new approaches to his subject.
